Unit Overview

Overarching Goal
The student will use word processing technology effectively to create a variety of professional documents.

SOFTWARE APPLICATIONS BY DESIGN A & B

 

Assumptions:

 

•  The timetable is based on 70-75 hours of instruction (75 is the actual but with snow days, assemblies, etc. it may be more like 70)

•  MS Office 2000 or XP will be the software.

•  All topics will be aligned to state and federal standards for:

•  Skills for Success, MSDE

•  National Business Education Association

•  Northwest Center for Emerging Technologies

•  Core Learning Goals, MSDE (where possible)

•  Tech Ed and Career, MSDE

Curriculum will be problem- and project-based around the theme of careers. Students will work in teams and individually to use MS Office applications to develop products related to their studies. Working with guidance and their classroom teachers, students will be encouraged to use the information that they have collected to analyze their current high school four-year plan and beyond.
