Communications Systems Technology is an experienced-based
course that integrates science and mathematics to study
systems that are used in a global society. Activities include
the study of information technology systems and the dynamics
of the communication processes that occur between human
to human, human to machine, and machine to machine. Students
will use a variety of technology tools to create solutions
to real-world problems
in communications.
Activities and content areas include: communications systems; computers
as a communications tool; the technical design process; electronic imaging
and multimedia; audiovisual communications and telecommunications.
The integration of mathematics, science, and other disciplines will be
utilized as students manipulate and decode data; create, build and use
communications systems; and
solve technological problems creatively.
Communications
Systems Technology: Semester A
By the end
of Communications Systems Technology A, the student will be able to :
- Explain
the meaning and uses of communication in a global society
- Use
a systems model to investigate, design, construct and assess
communication systems and components
- Describe
the societal and technological aspects of the communications
field
- Create
and manipulate images and symbols through the use of graphic
media,
communication instruments, and computerized devices.
- Demonstrate
the impact communications technology has on the individual,
society,
and the environment
Communications
Systems Technology: Semester B
By
the end of Communications Systems Technology B, the student will
be able to :
- Use
acoustical, electronic, and optical systems to interpret,
design, construct,
and assess communications technologies
- Demonstrate
knowledge of career options in communications that require
various
types of education and training
- Apply
the organization and operation of a modern information-based
industry to the
solution of community problems
- Apply
telecommunications principles to the development of a communications
system
- Use
audiovisual and computer technologies to present solutions
to an authentic
learning problem
