Rampage wins Gold Medal
Congratulations to the staff of The Rampage for winning a gold medal from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association! Results were announced by the CSPA on Friday. The students work very hard to create such a fine publication and it’s great to see their efforts recognized on a national level.

RHS Marching Band takes Fourth Place in State competitions
Congratulations to the members of the RHS Marching Band who took 4th place at the Maryland State Marching Band Championships at Towson University this past Saturday! The band scored a 74.175, beating out several other Montgomery County schools, including Paint Branch, Clarksburg and Watkins Mill.

Student Selected to U.S. Army All-American Marching Band
On behalf of the Rockville High School Music Department, you are invited to celebrate the selection of Eddie Kirk to the U.S. Army All-American Marching Band.
Eddie is a senior at Rockville High School, and is one of 125 students selected out of thousands who auditioned for the band last spring. As a member of the USAAAMB he will receive an all-expenses paid trip to San Antonio, TX in January to march in the halftime performance of the U.S. Army All-American Bowl at the Alamodome.
We are very proud to celebrate this achievement with Eddie. He is the second student from Rockville High School to receive this honor in the past four years.

LearnServe International Fellows for 2011-12
Congratulations to Emily Janes and Pranish Katwal, grade 11 IB students, and Danny Hoffman, grade 10 Pre-IB, who have been selected as fellows for 2011-12 in the LearnServe International program. LearnServe International equips high schools students with the tools of business planning, innovative problem-solving, and cross-cultural fluency, and challenges them to partner with teachers and schools to lead community-based social change efforts across Washington, DC and around the world

CONGRATULATIONS to the Class of 2011, the SECOND graduating class of IB Students at Rockville HS !!
29 IB students from the Class of 2011 received the prestigious International Baccalaureate diploma based on their exam scores (external assessments), their class work (internal assessments), their performance in TOK, their completion of the Extended Essay and their completion of CAS hours (Creativity, Action, Service). Students took a total of six exams over the two year period and earned scores above the world averages in nine content areas (out of the 15 content areas assessed at RHS) with a school average of 4.76 (on a 7 point scale). Additionally, two students received high scores of 42 points (out of a possible total of 45 points). Bravo!
