GENERAL DESCRIPTION OF COURSES
COOPERATIVE WORK EXPERIENCE (CWE): The CWE class meets for one period each day. First semester content includes information on finding and applying for a job, interviewing, career planning, and job site issues such as employer-employee relations, harassment, and discrimination. Second semester content includes preparing federal and state tax returns, insurance, investments, credit and credit reports, banking and credit card use, establishing a budget, and finding and leasing an apartment. ALL STUDENTS ENROLLED IN OJT MUST BE ENROLLED IN CWE AT THE SAME TIME. This is an MCPS requirement.
TRIPLE PERIOD ON-THE-JOB TRAINING (OJT-TP): Students in OJT-TP are scheduled for OJT during periods five, six, and seven. OJT-TP students MUST work a minimum of 15 hours per week and 225 hours from the first day of the semester through the last day of the semester. While hours worked on non-school days will count toward the student’s minimum number of hours, a student MUST work at least THREE school days each week. Students may leave school at the end of period four and must be off school grounds by the start of period five.
DOUBLE PERIOD ON-THE-JOB TRAINING (OJT-DP): Students in OJT-DP are scheduled for OJT during periods six and seven. OJT-DP students MUST work a minimum of 10 hours per week and 150 hours from the first day of the semester through the last day of the semester. While hours worked on non-school days will count toward the student’s minimum number of hours, a student MUST work at least THREE school days each week. Students must be off school grounds by the start of period six.
SINGLE PERIOD ON-THE-JOB TRAINING (OJT): Students in OJT are scheduled for OJT during period seven. OJT students MUST work a minimum of 5 hours per week and 75 hours from the first day of the semester through the last day of the semester. While hours worked on non-school days will count toward the student’s minimum number of hours, a student MUST work at least TWO school days each week. Students must be off school grounds by the start of period seven.
