Kris Alexander, Principal

About Ms. Alexander

I am truly honored and grateful to continue to serve the special school community of Rock View. I am excited to continue our collaborative work to create a positive learning environment that promotes the highest levels of teaching and learning. I am confident that our community will work together to preserve and build upon what has been most successful at Rock View and move it into the future. I am committed to helping our staff and students reach their highest potential.

I am a “West Coast” girl at heart; I was raised in the Seattle area. I am a huge Seattle Seahawks fan! I moved from the Pacific Northwest to attend college at the University of Colorado at Boulder. I earned a Bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology and began my educational journey into psychology and education while at CU. After having two children and moving to Maryland, I earned a Master’s degree and a Certificate of Advanced Study in School Psychology from Towson University. After serving as a school psychologist in MCPS, I pursued a graduate certificate in Administration and Supervision from Towson University. Before becoming the proud principal of Rock View, I served the school communities of Rosemary Hills and Wood Acres Elementary Schools as an Assistant Principal, and Rock View’s as a Principal Intern and Acting Principal.

My husband and I live in Silver Spring with our two daughters, Sydney and Avery.

I can be reached at 301-929-2002 or via email at Kristine_A_Alexander@mcpsmd.org. I look forward to working together to ensure that Rock View is a “Great Place to Learn.”

Michelle L. Fortune, Assistant Principal

About Ms. Fortune:

I’m excited to serve the Rock View community as the assistant principal to continue the great traditions that Ms. Alexander and her staff have established.

I was born in Baltimore and raised in Columbia, Maryland. I received my Bachelor’s degree from Millersville University in elementary and special education, and I have taught special education at elementary, middle, and the high school levels. I received my Master’s degree in Educational Leadership from Hood College which allowed me to serve as the assistant principal of Montgomery Village and Rocky Hill Middle schools. Last year, I had the privilege of serving as the principal intern at Montgomery Village Middle School.

My husband and I are the proud parents of two amazing elementary school daughters, with our youngest daughter starting kindergarten this year.

I’m looking forward to carrying out the vision of Rock View and getting to know the staff, students, and community. I can be reached at 240-740-0920 or via e-mail at Michelle_L_Fortune@mcpsmd.org.
