What’s happening in Kindergarten this quarter?
Here is what we are working on for the fourth quarter of the school year:
Academics
In reading, we will work on retelling stories and comprehension. We will identify short vowel sounds.
During the month of April, we are celebrating National Poetry Month by reading a variety of poems. We will identify rhyming words in our poems.
We will also read informational texts and identify the main idea and text features.
In math, we are working with numbers in a variety of ways. We are working on counting objects in a set and on identifying which set has more, less, or equal amounts of objects. We are putting together and taking apart numbers to make a new number. At the end of the quarter, we will identify coins.
Our focus in science is on the external features of plants and animals. We will also identify adaptations of plants and animals to their environments.
In social studies, we are learning about our family traditions, customs, skills and interests.
Social and Emotional
We will be having an in house field trip with a naturalist from the Audubon society in May. We look forward to learning about plants and animals that are native to Maryland.
Please remember to read with your child every night!
