American Red Cross Club – (Laura Goetz) - Meets as needed at Lunch – rm. 324.
The Purpose of the club is to volunteer for Red Cross Hospital and to raise awareness on health at Richard Montgomery. The club will oversee certain health-related events such as the annual blood drive.
Amnesty International Club – (Amy Malone) – Wednesdays at Lunch – rm. 258
Anime Club – (Trudi Niewiaroski) – Tuesdays at Lunch – rm. 311.
An opportunity to watch and discuss anime films with other fans.
Arabic Language Club – (Gerard Giblin) – Mondays at Lunch – rm. 168.
Archeology Club – (Bob Hines) – Thursdays at 2:30-3:30 - rm 218.
This a long-standing club involved in washing, cleaning, and analyzing actual local artifacts. Students go out on digs, in conjunction with other local high schools, about 6-7 times in the school year.
Art Club – (Kelly Posey / Michael McDermott) – Thursdays at 2:30 – 4:15 pm – rm. 35.
The purpose of this club is to afford students extracurricular opportunities to use art as a medium and output for expression. Students will be largely self-directed but able to work together and collaborate for mural, book-making and specialized activities.
Asian American Club – (Theresa Chee) 1st & 3rd Wed. of month at Lunch –Career Center. The club provides an opportunity for all students to share their various Asian cultures with each other. Overall, the club fosters Asian pride while making friends and having fun at the same time. There are often joint events and activities with other Asian Clubs in Montgomery County.
Black Maskers (Drama Club)-(E. Davis /Saladyga) - Stage - daily during rehearsal @ 2:30 pm.
This is the school’s drama club which puts on 2-3 productions a year. There are positions for students both on stage and backstage.
Chinese Honor Society Club – (Patricia Smith) See Ms. Smith for meeting times/days.
Classic Film Club – (Christiane Nugent) - Every other Friday at 2:30 pm – rm. 170.
The purpose of this club is to introduce students to the best of American and International classic movies such as Casablanca, with an opportunity to discuss them afterwards.
Collectible Card Game Club – (Dave Dumas) – Wednesdays at 2:20-3:00 pm – rm. 246
Students meet periodically to play collectible card games together. Games entail intellectual rigor similar to traditionally recognized games as chess.
Color Guard Club – (Peter Perry) – please see Mr. Perry for after-school seasonal schedules.
This club meets with Marching Band Club as part of it, though it also uses flags.
Debate Club – (Rob Kuney) - Wednesdays at Lunch – rm. 220.
This club offers an opportunity for students to debate against students from other local schools.
Digital Photography Club – (Kelly Posey) – Mondays at Lunch – rm. 41.
Doctors without Borders Club – (Kimberley Lansell) - Wednesdays at Lunch – rm. 220.
The purpose of this club is to raise awareness of political and environmental disasters and fund raise for the Doctors without Borders (MSF) organization in order to enable them to provide medical treatment in underprivileged countries.
Environmental Club – (S.Wright/A. Malone) – Mondays at Lunch - rm. 233.
Join us and help lead the recycling effort for the school.
Fellowship of Christian Athletes – (Connie Chang) – Tuesdays at Lunch – rm. 317.
This club provides students, athletes and non-athletes alike, an opportunity to meet to study and worship God together.
Fine Lines – (Sara Liles / Molly Clarkson) - Wednesdays at 2:30-4:00 – rm. 260.
Editor meetings are Thursdays, lunchtime. Fine Lines is RM’s award winning literary and visual arts magazine, which is published annually each spring. Students can participate as editors and staffers who review and comment on submissions, and/or as artists or writers who submit pieces to be reviewed for possible publication.
Foreign Film Club – (Christiane Nugent) - Every other Friday at 2:30 pm – rm. 170.
The goal of the club is to introduce students to filmmaking in other parts of the world.

Forensics Club – (Molly Clarkson) – Tuesdays at Lunch – rm. 260.
The forensics club allows students to compete in a wide array of speaking categories periodically throughout the year.
Free Burma Club – Davina Smith, Rm 261, alternate Fridays, lunchtime.
This club is dedicated to raising awareness of the Burmese political situation and raising funds for the relief of victims.
French Honor Society – (Christiane Nugent) - Every other Wednesday at Lunch – rm. 170.
The club’s goals are to promote the French culture and its language. The club also honors high-performing French students.
Future Educators Club – (Julie Good) – Mondays at Lunch – rm. 238.
Interested in teaching as a career? This group meets to discuss education issues, to recognize outstanding teachers, and also visits RM’s cluster schools to observe teaching at various grade levels. All Rocket Corp interns are automatically members.
Gay-Straight Alliance (GSA) – (Virginia Azurée) – Fridays at Lunch – rm. 345.
The purpose of the club is to promote tolerance and understanding of gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender individuals, and to provide a safe space for RM students who identify as such, and want equal rights for all citizens regardless of sexual orientation. We also provide a safe space for straight students whose parents or other family members are gay. Activities include participation in the Day of Silence and the AIDS Walk.

Global Friends Club – (Parfait Awono) – every other Friday at lunch – rm. 312.

Homework Club – (Chamara Wijeratne) – Tues, Wed, & Thurs. at 2:30-4:00 pm – rm. 163
Students are provided instructional support from National Honor Society students in a variety of subjects. This is a voluntary support, and students can attend as needed.
International Club – (A. Bennett / A. McCallum) – Meets as required – rm. 265.
The club offers students the opportunity to learn about other countries and cultures, and to present information about their own culture to other club members. The main event, International Night, includes many musical performances from a variety of countries as well as cultural table displays.

This club provides students with the opportunity to compete against regional and national teams in academic quiz tournaments.
Juggling Club – (John Chase) – Tuesday and Thursday at Lunch – rm. 319.
Provides a supportive environment for students to learn, practice, and enjoy juggling and other performance skills with their peers.
Knitting Club – (Denise Saladyga) – Meet as needed during Lunch – rm.
Students knit scarves, hats, and blankets for a local homeless shelter, gaining SSL hours for their hard work
Ladies With Character Club – (Teresa Boyd) – Thursdays at 2:30-4:30 – rm. 232.
This club focuses on character building topics including integrity, responsibility, making good choices, service to others, academic goals, college decisions, mentoring, manners and etiquette. Activities include Holiday Food Drives, Volunteering for service hours, Ice Skating, and Mother/Daughter Tea.
Latin Scholars – (Christiane Nugent) – Wed. (at 2:15 pm) and Thurs. (at Lunch) – rm. 170.
Latin Dance Club – (Nilma Martin-Antonetti) Tuesday and Thursday from 2:30-3:30 pm.
This club offers students an opportunity to learn Spanish dances.
Marching Band – (Peter Perry) – Fall season Only - Tuesdays/Thursdays at 2:30 pm.
This group puts together all instrumental competitive field shows, marching band competitions, and community events. Please contact Peter Perry if interested in performing in Jazz Ensemble, Wind Ensemble, Concert Band, or Orchestra.
Math Team – (Matt Davis) – Wednesdays (until March 2009) at 2:30 pm – rm. 314.
This club offers students an opportunity to do non-traditional math problems and to attend meets with other schools.
Medical Careers Club – (Julie Ghent-Paolucci) – Fridays at Lunch – rm. 346.
The purpose of this club is to foster a deeper understanding of medicine and paramedical careers. Speakers from different branches of medicine will present along with field trips to various medical facilities.
Mock Trial Club – (Dan Evans) – Fridays at 2:30 pm & Individually at Lunch – (rm. 214). Mock Trial is an interscholastic match providing students a form in which to dramatize and compete in a fictionalized trial.
Model Congress Club – (Gerard Giblin) – Fridays at Lunch – rm. 168.

Club members watch musicals – and always have yummy snacks! Look for announcements on RMBC for specific titles and dates.
NaNoWriMo Challenge Club – (Matt Quinn) – Mondays at Lunch – see teacher for room.
November is Novel Writing Month, and would-be-authors across the nation are challenged to write the Great Frantic Novel, a 175 page or 50,000 word piece in only 30 days. The NaNoWriMo Challenge Club will bring participating students together to plan, support, and edit work.
National History Club – (Bob Hines) – Tuesdays at Lunch – rm. 218.
The club’s goals are to promote the study and interest in history. The club aims to do this through viewing relevant films and by outings to museums and battlefields, among other local historical sights of interest.
National Honor Society (NHS) – (M. Nunez-Gaylor) – 1st Fri. of month at Lunch – rm. 240. The four pillars of this community service organization are Scholarship, Service, Character, and Leadership. To be inducted by their teachers and extracurricular activity sponsors, a student must be a Junior or Senior with 3.5 or above un-weighted GPA and must show exceptional demonstration of the pillars. In order to graduate with NHS Honors, students must complete 20 hours of community service during membership in the club.
Outdoor Hiking Club – Mondays, lunch, rm 250. Want to get outside and enjoy the local nature? Students will plan hikes in the area and get out on the trail whenever possible, while focusing on learning outdoor skills and environmentally friendly camping strategies. Anyone is welcome -- even if you don't consider yourself "outdoorsy".
Philosophy Club – (Robert Thomas) – Wednesdays at Lunch – rm. 217.
This club provides a setting for anyone interested in philosophy to discuss philosophical issues and topics.
Pit Orchestra – (Peter Perry) - Meets Feb. –April; Monday through Friday at 2:30-4:30 pm.
This is the instrumental ensemble that accompanies the Spring Musical.
Robotics Club – (Frank Krach) – Mondays through Fridays at Lunch – rm. 336.
This club will build multifunctional robotic devices in order to advance an understanding of electronics.
SADD (Students Against Destructive Decisions) – (S. Rosner) – Fri. at Lunch – rm. 234
The goal is to help young people have fun and enjoy life without alcohol and other drug-infused activities, focusing on positive personal relationships without the distraction and distortion of alcohol. The group will support the “Every 15 Minutes program” and Post-Prom to educate teens with the knowledge and power to make safe choices.
Science Club – (H. Edelstein / V. O’Donoghue) – Every other Wednesday at Lunch – rm. 342. This club has a monthly book club and offers students a chance to complete science-related SSL activities and receive information and science-related competitions. Members are encouraged to participate in the Science Bowl Team and the Brain Bee.
Shakespeare Club – (Davina Smith) – Every other Friday at Lunch – rm. 261.
The club provides a setting to discuss Shakespeare and his works with other like-minded fans. The club also puts together an annual performance for the Folger Shakespeare Festival.
Ski Club – (Frank Krach / Teresa Boyd) – Designated Ski Trips throughout Year
South Asian Club – (Chamara Wijeratne) – Wednesday at Lunch – rm. 163.
The club meets to help improve the understanding of the South Asian culture.
Spanish National Honor Society – (Maria Solernou) – Meets as required – rm. 156.
Members seek to learn more about Hispanic cultures and tutor students in the Spanish language. Activities include movies, outings to Spanish restaurants, and salsa dance lessons.
Student Government (SGA) – (Toni Kelliger) – Meets monthly in Auditorium - times TBA. Joining the SGA gives students the opportunity to shape school policy.
The Tide – (Jonathan Taylor) – Mon. for Editors / Tues. for general mtgs. at Lunch – rm. 215. The Tide is RM’s student newspaper which is open to all. Sections include News, Op-Ed, Arts, Features, International, La Marea, and Sports. Editors, writers, and photographers welcome.
Tri-M Music Honor Society – (Ronald Frezzo) – Rm 107, two Mondays a month, lunchtime. In this club, students perform community service through performance and other music related activities. Criteria for membership includes enrollment in a music class.
Video Game Club – (Dave Dumas) – Wednesdays at 2:20-3:45 pm – rm. 246.
HEY! LISTEN. Students get to challenge one another, and the occasional teacher, at their favorite games. The environment is very casual and noncompetitive. All experience levels are welcome -- even n00bs. Join us now or we'll steal all your hearts.

Club motto: “To Educate and to Empower.” Our goal is to help students identify their natural talents and abilities, and to utilize this potential in creating and preparing powerful young leaders for today’s life challenges. Activities include guest speakers, field trips, fund raisers and activities that empower today’s youth
