Welcome to the Principal's Corner. This is a spot that Mr. Sinclair will use to share important information from his office with the Redland Middle School Community. About Mr. Sinclair

Mr. Sinclair is entering his third year as the principal of Redland Middle School. He is very proud the be the principal of such an accomplished school with amazing students, dedicated staff, and such involved parents. Prior to becoming the principal of Redland Middle School Mr. Sinclair was the assistant principal of Redland Middle School for three years. Mr. Sinclair's administrative career started during the 2004 - 2005 school year as the student support specialist at Ridgeview Middle School in Gaithersburg.

Mr. Sinclair's teaching experience included a year at Redland Middle School as a mathematics teacher, the Mathematics Resource Teacher and the 8th Grade Team Leader. Mr. Sinclair also taught Mathematics at Northwest High School in Germantown, John F. Kennedy High School in Silver Spring, and James Wood High School in Winchester, Virginia.

Mr. Sinclair has a Master's Degree in School Administration and Supervision from Bowie State University and a Bachelor's Degree in Secondary Education (focus on Mathematics) from the State University of New York, College at Oswego in Oswego, New York.

Mr. Sinclair is married with two children, Taylor (8) and Ethan (5) who will both be attending MCPS schools this year. When he is not at school Mr. Sinclair enjoys spending time with his family.

Principal's Advisory Council / Redland Parent Academy

Mr. Sinclair has continued the Redland Middle School Principal Advisory Council (PAC) for the 2011 - 2012 school year. This panel will serve as an advisory and feedback group for Mr. Sinclair. The purpose of this group is to provide Mr. Sinclair with feedback regarding how things are going at Redland and how we can improve the educational environment for our students.

 

The PAC is open to ANY and ALL current parents who are interested in attending. If the attendance permits it we will break down into grade level groups to discuss more specific grade level concerns.  Parents are encouraged to attend and discuss any Redland topics that are on their minds.

 

The Redland Parent Academy is a new program at Redland Middle School.  On the Parent Academy meeting nights Redland Middle School will provide parents with information and training on topics impacting their students at Redland Middle School.  These presentations will focus on building the school to home bridge and working on ways that parents can support Redland Middle School and their child's success!!!

 

The following are the meeting dates for the PAC and Parent Academy Meetings.   Parents are encouraged to attend the PAC meeting and stay for the PTA meeting. 

 

  • August 25- PARENT ACADEMY- "Middle School Rocks"- Come hear from and speak with a parent panel made up of veteran parents.  They will share their tips, strategies, and suggestions, and will answer parent questions about Redland Middle School.  Session will run 715 - 800 p.m. in the Redland Middle School Media Center.
  • October 12- PARENT ACADEMY- "Knocking out Bullying"- Come learn about Redland's anti-bullying and peer mediation programs.  Learn how we are working to empower staff and students to squash bullying and conflicts at Redland Middle School.  Session will run 7 - 830 p.m. in the Redland Middle School Media Center.
  • November 8- PAC- This is the first PAC of the year.  This is an opportunity to come and share, discuss your thoughts and ideas with Mr. Sinclair.  The PAC will preceed the PTA meeting.  It will begin at 7pm and end at 745 pm in the media center.
  • December 13- Parent Academy-  TOPIC TBD, 700 - 830 pm in the media center
  • January 10- Parent Academy-  This is the second PAC of the year.  This is an opportunity to come and share, discuss your thoughts and ideas with Mr. Sinclair.  The PAC will preceed the PTA meeting.  It will begin at 7pm and end at 745 pm in the media center.
  • March 13- Parent Academy-  This is the third PAC of the year.  This is an opportunity to come and share, discuss your thoughts and ideas with Mr. Sinclair.  The PAC will preceed the PTA meeting.  It will begin at 7pm and end at 745 pm in the media center
  •  April 10- Parent Academy-  "High School Credit and Course Selection", 700 - 830 pm in the media center from 700 - 800 pm.  This session will focus on earning high school credits in Middle School.
