Construction Updates

November 13, 2009

Things are moving along. The new main office area is really starting to take shape. All of the offices are framed and being prepped to be painted. The new addition has been completely built, the roof if ready and sealed. The HVAC contractor has been working to run the piping and ductwork to control the ventilation in the new administrative area. Our goal is to move out of the current location on December 18-19 and start working from the new location on Monday, December 21, 2009.

The science rooms are beginning to take shape. They have laid out the walls, run the electrical, the plumbing, and the gas lines. The door frame are in and they will begin framing the cinder block walls in that area. The completion date for the science rooms is spring break.

We received great news today. We will be getting, as planned, the front hallway and the hallway between the media center and rooms 56A and B starting Monday. This will give us back our security office, our testing office, 77 lockers, and provide a front door to the media center. The hallway looks GREAT!!!!!!

September 24, 2009

Construction is moving along. They have built the new wall that will separate the front hallway from the new Science rooms and the new administrative offices. Today and tomorrow they will be laying the new tile in the front hallway and the hallway between the media center and room 56. These hallways are slated to open Monday October 5, 2009!

The revised timeline has the main office moving to our new offices over winter break. The new science labs as well as two new classrooms where the main office is currently located will open after spring break. After spring break the back area of the building (rooms 27 - 52, including the 7th and 8th grade team rooms) will close for renovation.

The first week of school was great. While you can not see a great deal of progress inside the building, there has been a ton. The new main corridor wall is almost completely construction and much of the plumbing in the new area is being completed. The new main office is looking great. The fourth wall has been built and the brick face is almost half done. Next steps will include installing the beams for the roof and completely closing in the new area.

August 31, 2009

We are ready to open. The construction contractors have completely closed off the construction area, all new areas are painted and looking good. The front addition is starting to take shape with the foundation poured and the wall being started.

We are getting close to teachers returning. The past week there has been a great deal of work being done. The carpeting is down in the media center and new tile is in the two computer labs, the health room and the back hallway. All of the wiring, lighting, and ceiling grids are in. The construction company is waiting for the electrical inspection to close up the ceilings. The media center looks great and over the next few days the bookshelves and books will be replaced. Hopefully by mid next week it will be done!!!!

The portables were connected today. All of the power, communication, and power lines are being run. 13 portables is a ton! They started building the new walls that will define the front hallway today. It is cool to see the 6th grade and science areas completely gutted!!
