School Supplies and Other Related Fees
Last year, changes were made to MCPS guidelines regarding course-related fees. Effective in the 2009-2010 school year the number of allowable course related fees will be substantially reduced and a revised fee waiver process will be established for students whose families cannot afford approved fees. While you are certainly welcome to send school supplies for your child to use in school, please know that we have purchased adequate supplies for all children to use in class and will not be sending home any requested list of school supplies as has been done in the past. If you would like to donate items that may enhance the classroom experience, but are not required for instruction, you are welcome to send those items to your child’s teacher. Those items may include:
Baby Wipes Box of assorted plastic forks, knives and spoons
Brown Paper Grocery Bags Used, clean white socks for cleaning white bo0ards
Clear, empty, 2 liter soda bottles Disinfectant wipes
Facial Tissues Hand Sanitizer
Paper Plates Paper Towels
Stickers Used tennis balls
Gallon size plastic storage bags Sandwich size plastic storage bags
Please consult with your child’s teacher to determine which of these items may be of greatest priority and need for the classroom.
There will still be times throughout the year when fees are charges for specific activities such as field trips, class parties, etc. If your family is unable to pay these fees you may request a waiver, a reduction, or an adjustment to the identified fees and/or payment schedule by notifying your child’s teacher or school administration. Waivers and adjustments to fees will be given to all families requesting this.
