Black-Eyed Susan Book Award Program

The
Black-Eyed Susan Book Award (BES) is a children's choice book
award for the state of Maryland. The award honors outstanding
picture books and chapter books – each year 15 picture books and
10 chapter books are nominated.
Students
get to pick the winning books in each category by voting for
their favorite. In order to vote for their favorite book, the
students must have read or listened to at least 8 of the 15
nominated picture books and/or at least 3 of the 10 nominated
chapter books. Voting takes place in the middle of April.
The
Media Center will have multiple copies of each book for students
to check out. Many of these books are also available in the
public library.
The
BES program is a voluntary program.

Special Occasion Book Club
The Special
Occasion Book Club is a great way to help us add to the Media
Center’s collection while at the same time celebrating a
birthday,
holiday,
special achievement,
or to
show teacher appreciation.
For a
minimum donation of $10.00 your child will select one of the
Media Center’s new books. A bookplate will be placed inside the
front cover identifying the student and the occasion being
celebrated. The student is then the first person to check out
the book. Once it is returned, the book becomes available for
general circulation.
Special
Occasion Book Club forms are available from the Media Center. |
