Information About Concussions
Quince Orchard HS takes the safety of our student-athletes very seriously. Concussions are one of the hardest injuries to diagnose and the treatment of the injury is very important to both the short-term and the long-term growth and success of the student-athlete. As a result of the increase in awareness of concussions and the growth of their diagnosis we have partnered with Maryland Orthopedic Specialists (MOS) to provide students the ability to take a baseline test at the beginning of their season and then in the event of a suspected concussion our Athletic Trainer, Dena Rappaport, can test them using the same system to see if they have suffered a concussion. The system that we use, ImPACT - http://impacttest.com/, is the same system that is used at Children's National Medical Center in Washington, the National Football League, the National Hockey League, many Major League Baseball teams, and hundreds of Colleges, Universities, and other High Schools.
