The following letter was sent home with students on in early June, 2009
Dear Parents and Students,
Each year we have students complete summer math work to review math concepts over the summer and set themselves up for success the next school year. This year we’ve decided again to use the computer math program, Skills Tutor, to enable students to review. Each student will be provided a school login and password so that they will be able to access their summer math assignment online. The program is designed to give students immediate feedback as they finish each section. Teachers can also access that data to see a child’s strengths and areas of need as they begin the year.
To login, go to www.myskillstutor.com Students should use their Pyle student ID and password for the summer assignment. When they login, they will be asked for a site. The site is: thomas06. Click on the assignment for the class they are registered for in the fall and complete all sections. **Students should have received this letter with their Pyle student ID and password listed before the end of school. If your child did not get this letter please contact me at the email address below for their ID and password.
If a student would like to try some of the other course assignments as either review or enrichment, they are more than welcome to. However, completion of the next level’s assignment is not a pathway into the next course. These assignments are designed to be a review of skills necessary for success in the next course level, as many of the skills overlap the course levels.
There will be nothing to turn in to next year’s math teacher. Teachers will have access to each of their students’ data. We do encourage students to keep a log of their own progress.
For students without computer access or for those who would like a hard copy of the summer math packet: Hard copies of last year’s summer math packets will be available and located on the table outside the main office. An electronic version of last year’s math packet are also available on the PYLE website by clicking on the links above.
Sincerely,
Michael J. Kryder, AP
