Montgomery County Class Piano Program
2008-2009
STUDENTS MUST BE IN AT LEAST 2ND GRADE
Once again, the PTA will sponsor the Montgomery County Class Piano Program. This non-profit, after-school program uses certified teachers to provide instruction in piano playing and music theory. Note-reading, ear training, harmony and sight-reading are topics covered.
Students meet once a week after school for 30-60 minutes in the Music Room. Class time and size vary depending on the age and musical ability of the children, with groups of no larger than eight students. During the lesson, each child takes a turn at the piano while classmates play on simulated keyboards.
Tuition for the school year is determined by enrollment – between $350 and $400. This includes 27 lessons, music books, and costs associated with an end-of-year recital. A $50 deposit is required with registration, with full payment of the remaining tuition due at the first lesson. The deposit will be returned if a child cannot be placed in an appropriate class. Tuition is non-refundable. Partial scholarships based on financial need may be available to students who have already completed one year of the program. For a scholarship application, please contact Jeanne Srour at (301) 983-1064 as soon as possible.
Class Schedule: Lessons will be held in the music room at Potomac Elementary School on Monday afternoons beginning Monday, September 15. Last class will be May 11th, recital will be at PES on May 18th in the evening. Classes will not be held on school holidays or but will be held on early release days. Classes cancelled due to weather conditions will not be made up. Parents are responsible for their child’s safety and transportation. There is no supervision after school hours.
