Forms:

National Honor Society Programs & Activities 2007-2008

Mentoring (on-going)

  • 35 ninth-graders are paired with NHS members
  • mentors offer social and academic guidance
  • mentors and mentees meet at least once a week
  • mentors attend training and reflection sessions for support
  • planned activities the year include
    • September: Mentor Training
    • September: Kick-Off Lunch
    • November: Goal-Setting Meeting
    • December: Holiday Party
    • January: Goal-Setting/Reflection Lunch
    • May: Ice Cream Social

Tutoring (on-going)

  • regular drop-in tutoring offered in math, science, foreign language during lunch
  • general tutoring available for special education students during lunch
  • one-on-one tutoring available in all subjects and levels

Recognition Cards (on-going)

  • congratulations/way to go cards made by staff request for students who deserve a pat on the back
  • approximately 25 cards delivered each month

Penny War (February)

  • part of grade level competition during spring Spirit Week
  • over $50 raised in pennies, nickels, dimes and quarters
  • funds support the NHS mentoring program

Induction Ceremonies (Fall & Spring)

  • November: 5 seniors inducted
  • February: 39 juniors and 1 senior inducted
