Technology Education

Technology is how humans modify the world around them to meet their needs and wants or to solve practical problems. Technology extends the human potential by allowing people to do things they could not do otherwise. Yet, because it shapes every part of our lives, a basic understanding of technology is essential to make sense of today’s changing world.

The technology education program provides students the opportunity to develop their abilities and skill sets for living in a technological world, using and maintaining technological products and systems, and assessing products and systems. Students will explore and develop an understanding of the scope and characteristics of technology and the core concepts of technology. They will recognize the relationships and connections between technology and other fields of study, while working to understand the attributes of design and applying the design process through a series of hands-on activities. Students will develop this understanding through the study of the human-designed world.
