Student Test Scores Associated with Health and Well-Being
Students who were less engaged in risky behaviors like substance abuse or
exposure to violence, and who ate nutritious foods, exercised, and had
caring relationships and high expectations from adults, made greater
progress in raising school test scores. Effective school policies should
also address these health and developmental needs of students.
