50 Parkland students To Receive the Superintendents Award for Student Service Learning (SSL) Hours!

by earning this award they have also satisfied their high school graduation requirement for SSL hours. Congraulations!
Parkland Students Win Big in 2009 International Science Fair Montgomery.
from Ms. Janney... I am so proud of all of the students who participated in
this year's international Science Fair Montgomery! This was a lot of work and
the competition was up from year's past. In spite of that, Parkland students
did incredibly well! We won 1st place for the whole fair- Junior division- in
Mathematics, took second place for the whole fair- junior Division- in both
physics and biology, took third place in the whole far- Junior division- for
physics, and third place for the whole fair- junior division- for engineering!
We also won lots of other prizes as well. Many of these students walked away
with $100. checks as well as medallions and other cool things! Here is the whole
list of prize winners!

Students, Ms. Blaney Visit White House, Chat with Astronauts!
WASHINGTON - It was not a typical day for five 6th, 7th and 8th graders at Parkland
Magnet Middle School for Aerospace Technology in Rockville: they didn't have
to go to morning classes, they talked to astronauts aboard the International
Space Station -- and they did so while hanging out with President Obama.
"It was amazing and exciting, it was, like, cool because you got to meet the
