Music at ParklandThis year the Music Department is going to Hershey Park, May 30. Will you be there?The music program at Parkland offers something for everyone. See what fits your interest the best. Band
Band is offered at all levels from beginning to intermediate to advanced. All students can sign up regardless of experience. Band instruments include saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute, all reeds and brass instruments as well as percussion. The Advanced Band competes each spring in a music festival. These festivals are held at either Hershey Park or Kings Dominion. Each year we come back with a trophy. Orchestra
This includes all the strings, violin, viola, cello, and bass. Orchestra is open to students of all levels. The Orchestra also competes in the Music in the parks festival. Jazz Band
This is the premier performing group at Parkland. The Jazz Band also competes in the festival each year. It is not for beginners but any experienced musician is welcome to come. This is not a regular class. Jazz band meets Tuesday after school. Jazz band also gives many other performances throughout the year. County Honors Band or Orchestra
This is done through the county. Ask Mr. Ragsdale for audition information. Also follow this link for audition requirements (this is the state website, requirements for county and state are the same), then Choose Band or Orchestra, then general information or Junior Orchestra or Band.
