Offerings
The music program at Parkland offers something for everyone. See what fits your interest the best:
Band: Band is offered at all levels from beginning to intermediate to advanced. All students can sign up regardless of experience. Band instruments include saxophone, trumpet, trombone, flute, all reeds and brass instruments as well as percussion. The Advanced Band competes each spring in a music festival. These festivals are held at either Hershey Park or Kings Dominion. Each year we come back with a trophy.
Orchestra: Orchestra is also offered at all levels from beginning to intermediate to advanced. All students can sign up regardless of experience. This includes all the strings; violin, viola, cello, and bass. Orchestra is open to students of all levels. The Advanced Orchestra also competes in the Music in the Parks festival.
Guitar Class: Students of all levels and grades are welcome. Guitars are provided by Parkland. There is a beginning and advanced guitar class. Students have the option of studying guitar all 3 years at Parkland. The advanced students compete at the Music in the Parks Festival.
Jazz Band: It is not for beginners but any experienced musician is welcome to come. This is not a regular class. Jazz band meets once a week after school. It covers many different contemporary styles. Jazz band gives many other performances throughout the year.
