Good morning Paint Branch. It’s Thursday, February 4, 2010. I’m Amina Aden and I'm Shawna Melvin and welcome to another edition of your morning announcements. Please listen carefully. There have been a lot of changes because of the weather.

Hispanic Awareness will be holding a dance seminar tomorrow, Friday, to raise funds for Haitian relief in room H133 at LAP. Everyone is welcome. Bring your dancing shoes. Gracias.

The Muslim Student Association (MSA) will have their general meeting today in Ms. Yeh's room D112 during LAP. Anyone can come, join and have fun!

Attention all Lit Mag members --We will be holding a meeting during LAP in the media center work room today. All members must attend. We need to discuss promotions and fund raisers. Please be prompt.

Enter a raffle by Making two deposits to your savings account at the Panther Trust or if you do not have a savings account, open a savings account and make two deposits before February 13, 2010. The Panther Trust is open Wednesday's and Friday's during LAP.

Any student who is interested in participating in the ACT-SO competition, please see Ms Kimmel in the Guidance office. Registration forms are due February 26, 2010.

The National English Honors Society is meeting at the beginning of LAP in room A102 on Thursday, February 4, 2010 to take our yearbook picture, collect dues and plan our spring event. All current members must attend.

Hungry? Well your in luck! The class of 2013 will be having a donut sale this Friday, February 5, 2010 before and after school in front of the cafeteria. Buy a donut and help the freshmen raise some money!!

Did you know the AP fair is this Friday during LAP. It's open to all students and students can come see what classes are offered in our school's AP program. Don’t miss this great opportunity to check out our wonderful AP classes.

The Student Academy of Sciences will be meeting in room H145 on Thursday at LAP. Come and find out what we up to: Speakers and Experiments are on the horizon.

The 9th Grade Homework Center will be meeting in the A wing on both Tuesdays and Thursdays for the remainder of the year. Freshmen, please be there by 2:30 p.m. with your materials and be ready to work 

AP Exam registrations will begin on Wednesday, February 10, 2010 during LAP in front on the guidance office. Registration forms are being distributed in your AP class or you may pick one up in the counseling office. If you have any questions regarding the process, please see Mrs. Whipple in the counseling office before or after school or during LAP. Avoid late fee's, register early!!

Everyone that is attending the Field Trip to the Body Worlds Exhibit in Philadelphia on Monday February 8, 2010 must attend the information meeting today at LAP in Mrs. Leffler's room. We will discuss important information regarding the field trip so please attend and please be prompt.

A horse was stolen Tuesday night around 9:00 p.m. at Woodland Horse Center. If you have any information regarding this crime please contact the police immediately. Thank you.

Attention -- Calling all Muslims and non-Muslims, artists, photographers, poets, songwriters, performers, and basketball players!! if you would like to be on the first ever Paint Branch MIST team, or if you are interested in it, please attend the mandatory meeting for this Muslim Inter Scholastic Tournament today. It will be during LAP in room D112 Miss Yeh's room! Please anyone interested, ANYONE, attend this meeting. If you want food, bring your own!
 

Sports

Attention all Baseball players -- There will be a mandatory baseball meeting today, Thursday, at 10:50 a.m. in the main gym. All players that plan on trying out MUST attend this meeting.

Anyone interested in participating in Boys Lacrosse this spring must attend the pre-season meeting tomorrow after school in the cafeteria. This applies to candidates for both Varsity and Junior Varsity.

Due to the weather forecast, the Bengal Pom Competition will be held TONIGHT! That's right, the Paint Branch Pom Squad will be competing tonight at Blake HS. Tickets cost $5.00. Doors open at 6:15 p.m. The Pantherettes will perform FIRST, so be on time. See you tonight and don't forget to wear your burgundy and gold. =)

The Softball meeting originally scheduled for Wednesday will now be on Friday, February 5, 2010 in room E110.

Congratulations to the Girls Varsity Basketball team as they move to 17 and 0 by beating Gaithersburg 57-52 Tuesday night. Led by the sharp shooting Kenia Cole and gritty defense by Sammy Fean, Latonya Simons and Briana Booker! Diamond Harris hit two big free throws down the stretch and Bones Moseley sealed the victory with two foul shoots with 4.5 seconds left in the game. Thank you to all the staff, students and fans who came out on a snowy night to support the Lady Panthers!

Good morning Paint Branch. Today is Tuesday, February 2, 2010. I’m Caitlin Clem and I'm Shawna Melvin and these are your morning announcements.

The class of 2012 will be selling delicious lollipops for just a dollar for the next two weeks. So give your sweet tooth a treat.

There will be a mandatory Softball meeting in E110 during LAP tomorrow February 3, 2010. All those interested in playing should attend.

Are you in need of SSL hours? The George B Thomas Learning Academy is seeking volunteers to help out on Saturday mornings from 8:45 a.m. -11:45 a.m. See Mrs. Long in the counseling office for more details.

Attention -- SS Honors Society. There will be a mandatory meeting for all members and potential members tomorrow February 3, 2010 in H023! All members must attend. See Ms Blakely if you will not be making it to the meeting.

Attention -- Sports Academy Participants -- Sports Academy meets today, tomorrow and Thursdays from 2:30 p.m. – 5:00 p.m. We are a happy to announce that we now have a late bus that will leave Paint Branch at 5:00 p.m. today and tomorrow. A special pass will be required to ride the 5:00 p.m. bus. Passes will be issued during Sports Academy sessions. Students must be an active Sports Academy participant (on that day) in order to receive a pass. See Mr. Brown if you have any questions.

The Gay/Straight Alliance will meet on Friday during LAP in room H007. All staff and students are welcome to attend. Please see Mr. Goldsmith for details.

Attention -- All young ladies who obtained permission slips for the Howard University trip on Wednesday, February 3, 2010 must have their permission slips in today, Monday, February 1, 2010 to hold a slot and be included in the head count for lunch. Seniors two reminders about SSL hours. 1) You must complete all required hours in order to purchase a Prom Ticket in the spring. 2) In order to qualify for the Meritorious Service Award you must have 260 hours or more turned into Mrs. Long by April 9, 2010. Don't wait to complete your hours. See Mrs. Long in the counseling office during LAP or after school if you have questions or visit www.mcpsssl.org

Attention students--The deadline for submitting a parking permit request for second semester is today! The names of qualified students will be posted on Thursday, February 4, 2010. Parking permits will be sold beginning on Monday, February 8, 2010. Open parking will end on Monday, February 8, 2010. All vehicles without current parking permits will be ticketed.
