A Diverse Community Of Learners

These teachers each bring a unique perspective to the Huerta House.  Get to know them a little better!

This August I will begin my 29th year of teaching the young minds of Maryland!  I've taught American History and Psychology for many of my 16 years at PBHS, and hope you will become as interested in the drama of American history as I am.   Don't be surprised if you see me out in the community since it's my community too.  I am the coordinator of the Huerta House, a Gilder Lehrman American History teacher,  and a co-sponsor the Psychology Club.  I love to travel, snorkel, dance, hang with my friends and family, scratch my dog's belly, watch classic movies and read.

I may be bald but I'm not hairless---SIKE

I'm joking..

Born and raised in DC, I enjoy weight lifting, playing basketball, riding my motorcycle and watching NFL football on Sundays.

I am excited about being a part of the Huerta House.  I’ve been at Paint Branch since the beginning of my teaching career and I intend to stay as long as possible because PB is a great school.  I have also been the resource teacher for the English Department for the last six years which keeps me busy but not too busy to watch Star Trek or go to Karaoke.

I bring energy and enthusiasm to my Geometry classroom and expect my students to appreciate the subject, as well.  Originally a civil engineer, my experiences with applied math help students explore and discover important concepts in geometry.  Recognized in June 2007 as Maryland’s Outstanding High School Math Teacher, I will continue to help my students meet my high expectations.  In my free time, I enjoy fine cuisine, cycling, and adding to my Mr. T collection.

My name is Allison Shube and I am teaching Algebra I and Geometry this coming year.  I have a BA in Psychology and an MA in Math Education.  I just moved to Maryland from New York and am very excited about joining the Paint Branch staff.  I enjoy movies, celebrity gossip and some good old corniness from time to time.  I also love singing and dancing; sometimes even during a math lesson!

I am originally from New Orleans, LA.  I was blessed to relocate to Maryland after Hurricane Katrina.  This August, I will begin my 9th year teaching.  My hobbies include cooking “nawlins” cuisine, playing the flute and playing with my four kids.  I am looking forward to an excellent year!

I'm originally from Boston and graduated (a long, long time ago) from the University of Massachusetts/Amherst - which means that I'm a big fan of the Red Sox and the Patriots.  In addition to English, I also teach journalism at Paint Branch as the advisor for the school newspaper, the Mainstream.  I love the outdoors, especially the beach and hiking in/around the mountains - something my wife Elena and I hope to pass on to our children, Elian & Gabriela.
