MCPS subscribes to many online services through the MDK12 Digital Library to provide students and teachers with current and helpful information to support teaching and learning. These databases and resources:
     1.  Are selected by experts
     2. Contain accurate, reliable content
     3. Text levels students can read
     4. Not available on the free Internet
     5. Continually reviewed so that content & links are appropriate and up-to-date

The following online subscription services are available on all MCPS computers. These resources are also available for home use. Access information is sent home via Dragon Tales. See Mrs. Brunn if you need the home access information chart.

	Four encyclopedias plus Internet guide, atlas, and videos. Includes study guides and exercises.
	History of the U.S. through speeches, memoirs, poems, images
	Explore la Enciclopedia Universal en Espanol (Britannica’s Spanish language encyclopedia)
	Largest, most comprehensive American Dictionary
	Facts and statistics about countries of the world
	General encyclopedia for wide variety of age and ability levels. Includes WWW sites appropriate for curriculum topics as well as a monthly feature and current events.
CultureGrams	Facts about countries around the world
	Kid-friendly, academic search engine
	Elementary periodicals; includes maps and projects
	Reference site from Weekly Reader; includes almanac, images, articles
	Magazine and newspaper articles selected by subject, with strong curriculum integration and expanded access to expository reading materials
	A bibliography tool that helps you create a works cited page in correct MLA or APA format
	Photos aligned to MD science and social studies standards. Here you will find photos from the news on almost any topic.
	National & international weather information, satellite imagery maps
	Resource for readers with author interviews, audio excerpts from books, and more.
	Professional educational journals
	A web based video delivery service correlated to school curriculum
