Computer Lab

Ms. Silva

My name is Nadia Silva and I am the Technology Teacher at Oak View Elementary School. I graduated from the University of Maryland with a degree in Elementary Education, and I earned a Masters degree from Johns Hopkins University in Instructional Technology. I was born and raised in Silver Spring, and I am a proud product of MCPS!

I thoroughly enjoy teaching the Oak View students in the computer lab. They are so eager to learn new and exciting things through the use of technology. I am impressed with their willingness to follow directions and be great role models.

When I am not at Oak View, I enjoy spending time with my husband, daughter and son. I also love sewing, surfing the Internet, collecting monkey things and going to the beach with my family and friends!

Oak View's Technology Vision

Oak View sees the use of technology as a tool to extend, enrich, and support Montgomery County Public School’s 2.0 Curriculum. This philosophy will guide our purchasing, training, and utilization of hardware and software.

Students will be encouraged to become lifetime users of technology. They will learn it is a tool for gaining information, organizing ideas, demonstrating understanding, and communicating with others.

Various computer applications will become an integral part of the writing process as students will be encouraged to compose and revise their work on the computer. They will conduct Internet-based research and produce multimedia projects. Technology will be used to develop thinking strategies through problem solving and reinforce skills through drill and practice activities.

Students will also gain good typing habits to increase their productivity over time. They will also be required to be responsible online citizens and will be given strategies on how to keep themselves safe.

Both teachers and students will utilize interactive whiteboards and document cameras to enhance the learning process.
