 Peggy Salazar joined Oak View ES in 1999 as Assistant Principal. In March 2001, she was named the acting principal and in May 2001 was approved as OV's new principal. Initially, Ms. Salazar was a principal in training here at OV. What she enjoys most about being an administrator is "everything":interacting with students and staff, bringing in new ideas, helping adults and students grow and "even doing the paperwork is OK."

Outside of school, Ms. Salazar enjoys golfing, sailing, interior decorating, reading, going to restaurants and movies, and touring Europe.

  • Collaborated with the National Archives II to establish employee partnerships for an elementary school

  • Instituted the University of Maryland America Reads student jobs program at an elementary school

  • Established a partnership with a Business Roundtable Educational Committee member.
