The site also includes Kathy Schrock's Guide for Educators--a categorized list of sites useful for enhancing curriculum and professional growth. It is updated often to include the best sites for teaching and learning.
PBS Teacher Source
PBS TeacherSource is a vast array of resources, including: education's best resources by curricular subject, topic and grade level; in-depth professional development services like PBS Mathline and Scienceline; details on PBS station outreach activities in your community; tips on how to effectively teach with technology; PBS television programs with extended taping rights for educators; access to convenient online shopping for your favorite PBS videos; best practices information from other teachers "in the trenches;" convenient tools for teaching, such as recommended books and Web sites; interdisciplinary teaching suggestions; free weekly electronic newsletter highlighting new TV and online programming from PBS; and much more!
National Geographic Xpeditions
Activites, resources and lesson plans--sorted by geography standard and grade level.
The Math Forum Arithmetic activities and lesson plans for students and teachers for K-12; part of a larger site with links to several others.

Back-Mapping Initiative
"A new website has been launched today [Monday, May 21, 2001] that provides detailed information on the "back-mapping initiative" and other efforts to establish continuity in the curriculum from grade to grade and consistency from school to school. The key focus is on the steps necessary to help students acquire and apply knowledge and skills toward a recognized standard of performance.

SIRS Discoverer SIRS Discoverer provides access to periodical and newspaper articles selected by subject, with strong curriculum integration and expanded access to expository reading materials. SIRS Knowledge Source, which includes the Government Reporter, is a source for current and historic government documents; landmark and recent US Supreme Court decisions; information about federal departments, agencies, elected leaders, and more. Articles are classified by difficulty. The "Easy" articles should be appropriate for elementary students. Contact Media Center for password.
American National Biography (no home access)
A database of biographical information on national historical figures (deceased individuals only). Great resource particularly for middle and high school students, but accessible for elementary students too.
