Maryland Mobile Science Lab
Where Agriculture and Science Meet
The students at OVES all had an opportunity to work as scientists thanks to the Mobile Science Lab sponsored by the Maryland Agricultural Foundation,Inc. The 3 different grade levels experienced hands-on exploration inside this unique mobile laboratory. The 5th grade students learned about genetics as they extracted the DNA from strawberries. The 4th grade students examined the environmental impact of styrofoam and corn packing foams while they actually made plastic from corn. Our 3rd graders acted as food scientists as they discovered the properties of chocolate and explored the concept of viscosity. What a great way for our students to explore the wonders of science! Thank you to all who helped arrange this on-site field trip.
