Baseball Percentages

In this activity, Mr. Greenman's class used baseball statistics found on the back of baseball cards to compute ratios and percentages. In the example above, the batting average of .299 relates to making a hit 29.9% of the time. The student then computes that the player's rate of making a hit is 1.06 times per game.

This student divides the number of hits, 1,789 by the number of games, 1,555 to determine that the player hit 1.15 hits per game.
1789 ÷ 1555 = 1.15 hits/game
