Ms. Goltra's Class has been identifying the basic geometric solids. Notice that the students use the correct mathematical terms, such as cube and prism. The students then figure out how to construct the solids using toothpicks and gumdrops. The activity prepares students for later years when they must identify the edges (toothpicks) and vertices (gumdrops) of geometric solids.

Indicators:
2.K.1.3 recognize and describe basic two- and three-dimensional figures, including circle, triangle, rectangle, pyramid, cube, and cylinder.

2.1.1.2 identify and describe the attributes of three-dimensional (solid) figures, including sphere, cube, cylinder, and cone.
