Students in Ms. Gale's class
create a design using pattern blocks. They record the design on triangle
grid paper and determine how many triangles the design covers (the design
above covers 6 triangles). Students then cover the original design with
other combinations of pattern blocks. They record each new congruent
figure. It is important for students to recognize that congruency refers
to the same figure covering the same area.
