During Black History Month, the children studied the underground railroad. We have learned about the way the slaves were treated, the route they took to freedom and the famous conductors who made the trip a success. As a culmination of the unit, the children created a map of the route they would take to freedom.

In Social Studies, the children are learning about the geography and natural resources of Maryland. As a way to aid our study of the land, the children created a mural of Maryland with the help of Miss Bensman, Miss Trilling and Miss Coughlin's classes. The focus was on the resources found in each section (north, south, east, west) of Maryland.
