Young Cam Jansen and the Missing Cookie is a mystery story that introduces the children to Cam Jansen. In this book we learned that Jennifer got her name "Cam" because she has a photographic memory, just like a camera. Cam helped her friend solve the mystery of his missing cookie by using her incredible memory.

After reading the story, the children then created a piece of a quilt about something important that happened in the story. They were able to choose an important scene, main event, character, chapter or theme. They were to draw and write a sentence explaining the importance of their illustration. The book Freckle Juice talks a lot about being proud of who you are. Andrew wanted to have freckles so bad, that he was willing to pay for and drink freckle juice just so he could be like Nicky. In the end, Andrew learns that being himself is good enough.

After reading the story, the children created a poster about what makes them so unique. The posters needed to include pictures and sentences explaining what makes them so special. Below are a few of their posters!
