November 19, 2011 -

Northwood High School had five seniors compete in National History Bowl at Mout St. Joseph’s in Baltimore, MD.  The National History Bowl is an interscholastic team history competition with a quiz bowl format.  Our five seniors included Andrew Soncrant, Ian Winnick, Cary Koenig, Casey Patterson, and Raphael Grimes.  The seniors compiled a 3-2 record in schedule play, which qualified them for playoffs.  Unfortunately, the gentlemen lost in the first round of the playoffs to Richard Montgomery High School.  The good news is that we have qualified for the National History Bowl coming in the spring.

We had one student representing Northwood in the National History Bee, Raphael Grimes (pictured below – in the center of the photo). The National History Bee is an individual competition.  Raphael did an excellent job, making it all the way to the semifinal round, just missing out on the finals.
