Participation in Athletics
To participate in sports, all athletes must have a current medical form on file at Northwood High School. MCPS requires all athletes to use MCPS Form SR-6, Health Inventory. The form is effective for one calendar year and must be submitted annually before a student may try out/practice/ compete. Students must give the form TO THE COACH at the first practice.
A parent/student consent form must also be on file as a condition of participation.
The forms can be picked up in the main office, from the coach, or in the Athletic Director's office.
Student athletes and parents must also complete and sign a Northwood Drug/Alcohol/Tobacco Contract agreement. The coach will give this form to the athletes who make the team.
After entering the school for the first time, an athlete must have at least a 2.0 grade point average with no more then one "E" in the last marking period in order to continue to participate. (Freshmen are automatically eligible the first nine weeks of school).
The MCPS ACTIVITY FEE must be paid at the time the coach has made notification that an athlete has made the team. The fee MUST be mailed directly to MCPS.
Forms and more information are available on the MCPS Athletics web page.
