Our Mission:
The African American Parents' Council of Northwest High School seeks to celebrate the achievements of African American students and to bridge any gaps between them and their Asian, Caucasian, and Latin American counterparts. This council advocates for students here at Northwest and at the Montgomery County School Board. In the past we have sponsored college trips, career days, participated in the NAACP Youth Summit, and awarded scholarships. This past school year we held quarterly achievement celebrations to recognize academic, extra-curricular and community successes. Our meetings included presentations and speakers discussing college savings and financial assistance, parent involvement and how to help your child prepare for college. We sponsored a school and community wide collection of magazines, socks and snacks for a Marine Battalion serving in Afghanistan. In addition, we have encouraged African American parent involvement in the PTSA and other school organizations. You are invited to take an active role in this journey towards educational excellence for all of our children.
