Booster Club Mulch Sale: Saturday, April 1

It’s not too late to order mulch from the Booster Club Mulch Sale scheduled for Saturday, April 1.  Large bags containing shredded hardwood mulch are only $5.25.  Free delivery is provided for pre-orders of 15 bags or more, and the Northwest football team can spread the mulch for you on Sunday, April 2, for an additional $3.00 per bag.  For complete ordering information, please visit

Chipotle Fundraiser for After Prom: Monday, March 20

All families are encouraged to support After Prom by dining at Chipotle in the Kentlands tomorrow, Monday, March 20, between 5:00 pm and 9:00 pm.  All you have to do is mention Northwest to the cashier, and After Prom will receive 50 percent of the proceeds!


Booster Club Meeting: Monday, March 20

There will be a Booster Club Meeting tomorrow, Monday, March 20, at 7:00 pm in the media center, and all parents are invited to attend!


Booster Club Mulch Sale: Volunteers Needed on Saturday, April 1

After Prom: Volunteers & Donations Needed

Our After Prom Party is Saturday, April 29, from 12:00 midnight to 5:00 am. This event is packed with activities, games, food, music, and prizes designed to keep our students safe after they leave the prom.  In order for the event to be safe and fun, we need plenty of food, prizes, and volunteers! Spring Spirit Week: March 20-24

Our Spring Spirit Week sponsored by the Student Government is this week!  The themes are International Monday, Tie-Dye Tuesday, College Wednesday, Throwback Thursday and Class Colors Friday.  Our spring pep rally will also occur on Friday.


Spring Musical Performances: March 24-26 and March 31-April 2

The Northwest High School Drama Program is presenting “Sister Act” for the next two weekends, and it promises to be an outstanding show!  Tickets are $10 for students and $15 for adults.  Performances are at 7:00 pm on Friday, March 24; 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday, March 25; 2:00 pm on Sunday, March 26; 7:00 pm on Friday, March 31; 2:00 pm and 7:00 pm on Saturday, April 1; and 2:00 pm on Sunday, April 2.


Certificate of Meritorious Service: Deadline to Submit SSL Hours is Friday, March 31

The Certificate of Meritorious Service is awarded to seniors who have earned 260 or more SSL hours, and the deadline to submit SSL hours for this recognition is next Friday, March 31.


MCPS Science Night: Monday, March 20

MCPS, in collaboration with the Montgomery County Council of PTAs (MCCPTA), will be hosting a Science Night from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm tomorrow, Monday, March 20, in the cafeteria at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville.  At the event, parents and students will join MCPS science educators to learn about the Next Generation Science Standards; new testing requirements; the timeline for implementation in elementary, middle, and high schools; new high school course pathways; and college and career readiness. Cap and Gown Orders: Price Increases on Monday, April 3

Attention parents of seniors: Please remember to purchase your student’s cap and gown if you have not done so already.  The current price is $50, but it will increase to $60 on Monday, April 3.  Payments can be submitted online at  Also, please remember that all financial obligations must be cleared in order for students to participate in senior events, including senior banquet, prom and graduation.


Booster Club Scholarship: Application Deadline is Tuesday, April 4

Applications are now being accepted for the Northwest Booster Club Scholarships. A $500 scholarship will be awarded to one male and one female Northwest senior planning to attend a two-year or four-year college or university.  For eligibility criteria and application requirements, please visit  The deadline to apply is Tuesday, April 4.


Choose Respect Conference: Sunday, April 2

All students and parents are encouraged to mark their calendars for the 2017 Choose Respect Conference, the 8th annual conference on healthy teen dating. This free, fun-filled event will take place on Sunday, April 2, at Richard Montgomery High School in Rockville.  There will be a resource fair from 12:00 noon to 1:00 pm, and then the conference will occur from 1:00 pm to 4:30 pm.  Free pizza will be provided to all participants at the end of the event. Revised Calendar for 2017-2018 School Year

The Montgomery County Board of Education adopted an updated calendar for the 2017–2018 school year last month.  The first day of school for students will be September 5, 2017, and the last day of school will now be June 12, 2018.  The Board also adopted a contingency plan that identifies dates that could be used as instructional days, if necessary, to make up school due to emergency and weather-related closings.  Two of these days are the first two days of the scheduled spring break next year, March 26 and 27, 2018.  For more information, please visit  The complete 2017-2018 school year calendar is available here:
