Northwest Girls Soccer Information (Updated May 2010)
Tryouts for the Northwest Girls Soccer Team begin on Saturday, August 14, 2010 and run through August. Girls that make either the Junior Varsity or Varsity team should not make any other commitments through the end of October, including over the Labor Day weekend. Attendance to all tryouts, practices and games are mandatory. Times TBD.
All paperwork must be submitted to Coach Johnson by August 14 in order to try out. Forms can be found on the Northwest Athletics website. They include the physical form (completed by a physician within the year), residency form and medical card. Paperwork can be dropped off on August 13 by the gymnasium between 6 – 7 pm.
Summer conditioning and scrimmages for the upcoming season is being organized by parent volunteer, Tom Martin. It is strictly voluntary and information can be obtained by contacting him via email at t58martin@hotmail.com. This wonderful opportunity is open to all girls attending Northwest in the Fall.
I am encouraging all girls to go to Kert Mease’s Golden Goal Soccer camp August 9 – 13 for the HS Prep week. Information can be found at http://www.goldengoal.net/. On your application, please indicate that you will be attending Northwest in the fall.
All student athletes will be assessed on the following during tryouts:
Attendance, Work Ethic, Soccer Skills, Fitness, Agility, Attitude, Consistency, Ability to Learn, and Heart. All athletes must have cleats, running shoes, water, shinguards and wear appropriate athletic clothing at all tryouts.
