Green Team

(6/1/09) The Green Team logged 797.25 hours of recycling this past school year. That’s the total number of SSL hours earned by the forty three 8th graders, thirty two 7th graders and ten 6th graders who attended more than one session.
Also, in Februrary, the latest month for which data is available, we increased our recycling by 25 % over last year’s rate.

The Green Team is a group of students who volunteer their time after school to help improve the environment. They collect paper, cardboard, bottles, and cans for recycling. They collect ink jet cartridges from families and school staff as a recycling fund raiser. They collect data on energy usage to try to keep Neelsville’s energy costs down. In exchange, students earn 1.5 hours of SSL time for each session of Green Team attended. Here is a photos of a typical Green Teamer collecting paper for recycling.
