Star Program
We have established the STAR Program based on the Positive Behavior Intervention Supports Initiative. This is a process recognized by the Maryland Department of Education that focuses on improving a school's ability to teach and support positive behavior for all students .It includes procedures and processes for ALL students, ALL staff in ALL settings. It is a team based process for systematic problem solving, planning and evaluation.
The 4 Expectations which we promote at school can also be applied to situations outside the school building:
- Safety
- Teamwork
- Respect
- Responsibilty
McAuliffe ES will be implementing a new behavior management system with specific consequences for inappropriate behaviors. If a child does not meet an expectation, there is a specific series of consequences:
- Warning
- Think Chair and Reflection Sheet
- Loss of Recess
- Removal from setting and call home.
- Office visit
