Crisis Management Plan

Magruder has developed a comprehensive Crisis Response Plan in the event of a man-made or natural disaster. The plan is designed to promote awareness of various emergencies and preparedness for appropriate actions. Basic to an evacuation and emergency plan is identifying the various types of disasters. Natural disasters are defined as earthquakes, floods, hurricanes, thunderstorms, tornadoes, and winter storms. Man-made disasters are defined as fire, hazardous materials spills, firearms, utility failures, bombs and bomb threats. Each disaster requires a response of evacuation or non-evacuation of the facility.

In the event of evacuation of the property, Magruder students would be relocated to:

Primary Location- Sequoyah Elementary School, 17301 Bowie Mill Road. Parents wanting information relating to the emergency would then call Sequoyah at (301) 840-5335.

The alternate location if Sequoyah Elementary School cannot be utilized is Redland Middle School, 6505 Muncaster Mill Road-301-840-4680.

The Magruder Staff has received the necessary training to effectively implement the procedures contained in the Crisis Management Plan including the Parent-Child Reunification process. The crisis procedures have been established to provide for the safety of students and staff with the hope it is never necessary to implement them.
