Academy of Education
Program Objectives
The goal of the Magruder Academy of Education is to provide students interested in a career in teaching with the fundamentals of early childhood, elementary, and secondary education. Through class work and field experience, students learn how education strives to meet the needs of children and adolescents as they develop. They also obtain through internships, observation and mentors, an understanding of the rewards, as well as demands, of teaching.
Magruder students who complete the sequence of Child Development courses, may apply for 3-9 credits when enrolling at Montgomery College in the Early Childhood program. In addition, students who already meet the entrance requirements at Montgomery College may have the option of taking entry-level education courses there.
