Connect Ed for Sunday 8/23 @ 6:30pm

Good evening this is Mr. Rubens, proud principal of Col. E. Brooke Lee Middle School, calling with some important information for our students and families. Next Sunday evening, August 30th (and each Sunday evening thereafter) you will receive a Connect Ed phone call from me highlighting the major events of the week.

On behalf of all of the Lee MS staff members, I would like to welcome our new students and to say “welcome home” to our returning 7th and 8th graders. At Lee Middle School there is excellence for all and excellence from all. I am also happy to report that Lee MS has met and exceeded the state Adequate Yearly Progress for the third year in a row.

Attention 6th grade families.  On Thursday, August 27th from 7:55 am to 11:40 am, all sixth graders are invited to attend orientation. We also welcome 7th and 8th graders who are new to Lee during that same time frame. Students who ride Montgomery County School buses will be picked up at their scheduled stops in the morning. Student walkers and those who arrive by carpool should plan to arrive by 7:45 am so we can begin our program promptly at 7:55 am. Students will follow an abbreviated schedule during the orientation session to help them become familiar with their regular class routine. Students will be dismissed at 11:40 am to board buses, walk home or connect with carpools at the side of the building. No meals are provided on this day.

On the evening of August 27th from 6:00 to 8:30 pm, please join other Lee families, Parent Teacher Student Association (PTSA) members and our department chairs for the 2nd annual incoming 6th grade "Pack Your Own Picnic Night". The courtyard will be open for dining, mingling and game-playing so pack your blanket, picnic dinner, bug spray, and your family and please join us.

The text of this message will be posted to our website weekly under the news from the principal section tomorrow.  By now you should have received the summer mailings from our school--all of this information, including the fall bus routes, are also posted to our school website.

The first day of school is Monday, August 31st. Please mark your calendars for Back-to-School Night, which is Thursday, September 17th from 7:00 9:00 pm.

I look forward to another productive school year.  Thank you and have a great evening.
