Ms. Rogers

Earth Science Teacher

WHAT I DO AT LEE:

My name is Ms. Rogers, and I love teaching science to Lee MS students!  I’ve been teaching at Lee since 2000, and have had the opportunity to teach every grade level science course at this school.  However, I predominantly teach 8th grade Earth Science, because I am most fond of this subject matter.  I am also the yearbook sponsor for Lee, because I enjoy taking and editing pictures, especially of my students.

WHAT I DO OUTSIDE OF LEE:

Outside of school, I volunteer as a team leader for a high school girls group, called Pure Fashion, that emphasizes building good character traits in young women, with a focus on style and trends in clothes.  In the spring, my high school girls model the newest fads in a fashion show at the Grand Hyatt in DC.  I have so much fun doing this, because I love fashion and this group provides a healthy outlet for teenage amusement, growth and bonding.

I am also an avid college basketball fan, so during the month of March, I’m consumed by the madness of this sport, and indulge myself in following as many teams as possible, during their journey to the “Big Dance.”  My two favorite teams are Georgetown and Villanova, both of which historically do well in the NCAA tournament.  However, I will root for the other Big East teams, when they are playing schools other than Georgetown and Villanova.

EDUCATIONAL HISTORY

I grew up in Olney, MD and attended Montgomery County Public Schools through 8th grade.  Then I went to Our Lady of Good Counsel for high school.  For college, I earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at Villanova University.  Finally, I studied at Johns Hopkins University and received a Master of Arts in Education.

DURING THE SUMMER

During the summer, I enjoy expanding my horizons through a variety of activities.  First and for most, I love traveling, especially to other countries and tropical beaches.  I also keep myself physically fit through swimming, biking and hiking.  To relax, I love going tubing, reading books and magazines by the pool/beach, and spending time with my family/friends.   For fun, I love going to shows, concerts and the hotspots/restaurants in the DC Metro area.
