About Lake Seneca...
Lake Seneca Elementary School opened its doors in the Fall of 1985. Located in Germantown in the northwestern corner of Montgomery County, MD, it was one of two experimental "solar schools" in the county, in which the school would use solar energy panels as a second source of energy. The school was built facing in a southernly direction and a majority of the windows face in that direction to make the most use of the sunlight. The ground on the northern exposure of the building is built up to the windows to help conserve heat. In 2005, the solar panels were removed, and the heating system was replaced.
