Blood on the River by Elisa Carbone
This book was about a boy named James in the year 1607. He was one of the men to travel to Jamestown on the first ship. This book showed the challenges of living in a new land far away from home.

Dragon Wings by Laurence Yep It is about a boy who grows up in China and never meets his father. Then he finds out his father is in America. If he is to meet him, he has to travel to America and meet him there. What I like about this book is the time they are in. Like in the time when airplanes are invented. That is a time I like the most. I would recommend this book to a friend because the book has a clear plot and you can tell how the characters feel. (By Michael T.)
It’s about this boy whose father is like in a rush or something. His father is in California and this boy has never seen his dad in his life until one day he goes but at that time they didn’t really like Asians so they treat them badly. Also when he went there to meet his dad and other people that his dad knew like White Deer, but he got to meet him and learn about that area. I like this book because it teaches that you shouldn’t treat people badly and that you should treat them with the same respect you want to be treated like. Then his mom teaches him how to fly the kites that his dad builds. When his dad finally comes home, they bond and get to know each other. I didn’t like this book because to me I don’t like how it’s just about what his culture believes in and the golden mountain will take or kill anyone who tries to steal. Another reason I don’t like it is because I don’t think that kites are that interesting. No, I would not recommend this book because most of my friends have a lot in common with me and we like the same books or genres and I don’t think they would like this genre. (By Matthew F.)

Everything For A Dog by Ann Martin
The book "Everything For A Dog" by Ann Martin is about two dogs, brother and sister, who are separated at puppy-hood to be adopted separately. The story follows Bone, the boy dog, and the story of his new owners and how they've had tragedies and a dog would fill in the empty spaces in their family perfectly. What I like about this book is the voice through Bone. It makes me think like a dog and see the world through a dogs eyes, and that's smart of Ann, the author to have him show his side of the story as well. Instead of it being one sided, owner telling the crazy happenings of his new dog, they show the dog showing what he's up to, at the same time!
Definitely. This book is a beautiful story, and I actually know of a few people who would enjoy this book very much, having their interests in dogs. Be prepared to have your heart strings plucked and pulled! (By Haifa P.)

Finally by Wendy Mass The main character, Rory, is finally turning 12. She is looking forward to the new privileges she is about to get. But things don't go exactly the way she wants them to. I don't want to spoil the book for you, but I will tell you that the plot involves many allergic reactions, a broken cell phone, and a crazy rabbit. Read the book to find out more!! I love the writing!! The author includes great adjectives and many cliffhangers. I couldn't put the book down. The author’s use of vocabulary helps kids better understand the book. You feel like you can understand the way the main character is feeling about things because of the author’s descriptive words!!
Would I recommend it to a friend? Of course!!! The book is perfect for teen girls! The vocabulary is easy to understand and I think lots of teen girls can relate to the things that happen to Rory in the book. There also is a lot of laugh out loud jokes! This is a perfect book for kids!! I hope you read the book!! :) (By Emma W.)

When she gets there, she finds out that her sister, Sutton, has been killed, so Emma has to take her place. I loved the characters in this book! Each one is so dynamic and each one has a different personality. What I really liked about this book is that one chapter will be told by Emma, then the next will be told by Sutton, and they are basically the exact opposite. Emma is nice, shy, and really peaceful, while Sutton is trouble making, backstabbing, and always in trouble. I would definitely recommend this book to a friend! (By Lauren E.)

I totally recommend this book because of its amazing plot and the small things that create the entire personalities of the characters. I warn you though that you tend to come across horrible events throughout the three book sequels but stick to it because it will definitely surprise you. (By Aaron M.)
