Montgomery Knolls Elementary School: Dedicated to Service, Respect, Celebrations, and Life-long Learning
Our Mission
As a diverse community of parents, staff and students at Montgomery Knolls, we are dedicated to:
Serving the individual needs of every student;
Establishing a safe and positive learning environment that promotes respectful behaviors and goal setting;
Celebrating our diversity and student learning; and
Preparing students to be life-long learners.
We are committed to communicating and clarifying expectations, sharing the responsibilities for learning and using data in our decision-making process.
Our school is a primary school in the Montgomery County Public Schools system. We have an ethnically and economically diverse student population of approximately 432 children in grades preschool through grade 2. In our preschool program we currently have an all day Head Start class, two half-day Pre-K classes, and six half-day P.E.P. classes. (P.E.P. is an early intervention Preschool Education Program for children with developmental delays in more than one area.) We also have six all-day kindergarten classes, five first grade classes, and six second grade classes. Montgomery Knolls also has the Even Start Program which supports local family literacy projects that integrate early childhood education, adult literacy (adult basic and secondary-level education and instruction for English language learners), parenting education, and interactive parent and child literacy activities. Our school is a Primary Technology Focus School in the Montgomery Blair Cluster. Our second graders continue in the Technology Special Focus Program for grades 3-5 at Pine Crest Elementary School.
Montgomery Knolls is also part of a Professional Development School Network (PDSN) with the University of Maryland. Click on their link for more information.
