MISSION STATEMENT

The Kingsley Wilderness Project is an interagency effort of MCPS and the Maryland National Capitol Park and Planning Commission. Its purpose is to provide a meaningful work-study program for seriously disruptive and/or chronically truant high school students. Since 1978, the Wilderness Project mission has been to change the venue for learning in a way that will remedy these students sense of alienation to a learning community. The goal has been to focus on students' self-esteem through a multi-faceted program.
