MediaCom Academy
Certification
| MediaCom participants must meet all usual state and county requirements for graduation, as well as meeting the unique standards for the MediaCom certificate.
MediaCom Certificate Requirements:
- Cumulative 2.5 GPA or 3.0 Weighted GPA
- Completion of at least four MediaCom courses
- Student Defense of Personal Portfolio
- 20 MediaCom Related Community Service Hours
MediaCom Honors Certificate:
- Cumulative 3.0 GPA or 3.4 Weighted GPA
- Four MediaCom courses with “B”s or better
- Capstone Experience with a “B” or better
- Student Defense of Personal Portfolio
- Participation in at least one extracurricular activity related to
- MediaCom or an Enriched Media Experience
- 50 MediaCom Related Community Service Hours

MediaCom Minor: The MediaCom minor is designed for those students who participate in other academies, but have a passion for Multimedia Communications. You can petition to earn a MediaCom Minor during your sophomore year. In order to petition, you must be a full time member of another academy, have passed, Exploring Technology Concepts, Computer Applications, or Fundamentals of Programming or Programming I with B or better and a obtain a teacher recommendation from the course listed on the courses page.
Portfolio standards:
- Students will use technology tools and resources to create multimedia images that reflect personal and professional identity.
- Students use technology resources for solving real-world problems and making informed decisions.
- Routinely and efficiently use online information resources to meet needs for collaboration, research, publications, communications, and productivity.
- Select and apply technology tools for research, information analysis, problem-solving, and decision-making in content learning.
- Collaborate with peers, experts, and others to contribute to a personal knowledge base by using technology to compile, synthesize, produce, and share works in a variety of media with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrate and advocate for legal and ethical behaviors among peers, family, and community regarding the use of technology and information.
