STUDENT DISCIPLINE POLICYThe student discipline policy outlines actions that are not acceptable in our learning community. Students, staff, and parents have reviewed and approved this policy. Violations of the student discipline policy will result in the application of a range of consequences. The consequences applied will vary according to the nature and frequency of the violation. Consequences may include, but are not limited to:
Some serious infractions require a non-discretionary minimum consequence of expulsion. These infractions are noted (*) in the disciplinary policy. The school administration reserves the right and has the ultimate authority to recommend consequences for inappropriate behavior which may include suspension and/or expulsion. When a student and/or parent believe there has been a violation of school or MCPS Policies and Procedures, the student may request a review of the situation by the principal or designee. When a student and/or parent is not satisfied with the decision of the principal, an appeal of the decision may be made to the Community Superintendent, Office of School Performance. A complete outline of this process is found in A Students Guide to Rights and Responsibilities in Montgomery County Public Schools. Every student receives a copy of this document each year. |
