Students will follow an academically challenging course of study in four major fields: Languages, Science, Humanities, and Mathematics leading to two diplomas, issued by Cambridge University in Great Britain. The first diploma earned in the sophomore year is the International Certificate of Education (ICE). The second diploma earned in the senior year is the Advanced International Certificate of Education.

Students will pursue rigorous curricula emphasizing experiential learning, community service projects and leadership theory and application. They will be prepared for successful decision-making in their scholastic and professional careers. The program emphasizes interdisciplinary-curricula, leadership training, group decision-making, problem solving, community service, and role modeling. *All students in the Downcounty Consortium may apply to this program.


MediaCom: Multimedia & Telecommunications

Students will participate in a wide variety of academically rigorous multi media opportunities such as web page design, which will prepare them for college or career. Students will be required to complete the academy courses, one of which must be an AP class. They will also participate in an internship during their junior/senior summer or senior year.


Tri-M: Medical Careers, Sports Medicine and Sports Management

Students will be required to complete the academy courses, one of which will earn college credit through Montgomery College, and to take at least one AP class. They will also participate in an internship during their junior/senior summer or senior year.


College Institute

Students will gain college skills and earn college credits by taking college courses during the regular school day. The College Institue extends opportunities beyond AP level and students can earn up to 30 college credits within the confines of their high school. These credits may be applied towards a Montgomery College degree and/or be applied to any receiving school.

The curriculum is divided into academic studies and leadership development. Academics introduce the historical, scientific, and technical aspects specific to each service. Leadership development concentrates on cadet corps activities, drill and ceremonies, improving study habits and time management skills, developing effective communication skills, and learning sound problem-solving techniques. *Available only to students attending Kennedy High School.
